Diego Villa

Diego, a native of Columbia, began his studies at the Universidad de Antioquia, completed a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance, under Adolfo Odnoposoff, at the University of Noth Texas, studied under Stefan Popov at the Gulildhall School of Music in London, and completed a Master Music under Gary Hardee at Baylor University.  Mr. Villa's accomplishments include performing as principal cellist with the Orquestra Sinfonica de Antioquia (Medellin, Colombia) from 1983 to 1990, teaching cello studies at the Unversidad de Antioquia from 1993 to 2000 and participating in numerous chamber music and solo recitals throughout Colombia.  In 2000, Mr. Villa and his family moved to Tampa where he became director of Orchestras at Progress Village Magnet School of the Arts.  Mr. Villa is a member of the Tampa Opera Orchestra and performs as a soloist in the Tampa Bay area. In 2007-2008, Mr. Villa will be teaching General Music at Valrico Elementary.
